PIANO STORIES IV

Crew photo (missing some people)
Yesturday was the piano stories concerts, matinee and evening.
For some 'undisclosed' reason, the pianist Krzystof Malek quit Eminence the night before the concert, and we had to grab Marcello Maio (accordian player from ANIF 06), a 3rd yr con student, to play. He received the music at midnight, the morning of the concert, and had under 14 hrs to practice it. Fortunately for us, he is a jazz pianist and was able to improvise alot of the stuff. And so we would all like to give a big THANK YOU to Marcello Maio who saved the Piano Stories concerts in Sydney.
And ofcourse, where would the concert be without all the staff and crew behind the scenes?
A big thanks goes out to;
Hiro, Justin, Billy, Steven, Yuya, Demetri, Danny, Aidina, Lucy, Bonnie, Dacia, Belinda, Jonathan, Suri, Ken, Cheng Wei, Chris, Lily, Richard, Mary-Jane, Roy, Wendy, Andrew, Grace, Cathy, Nelson, Mimi, Isabelle, Chloe, Jacky, and I hope I haven't forgotten anyone.
And ofcourse the performers, Marcello and Ayako.
Everyone did an absolutely amazing job and the concert turned out pretty ok, so now we are all looking forward to the next concert in december, Passion.

The funny things we talk about in comp major
Over this last semester we have been discussing concepts in composition major.
the four that we covered were;
Identity,
Time,
Space,
Hybridity
For Hybridity, we had to come up with a concept for a piece that used intermedia sources.
Ideas that popped up ranged from 'Dancequarium', involving a ballerina, tap-dancer, giant glass tank with a little bit of water, underwater mikes and stuff, to AAS, atomic Absorbsion Spectroscopy, to football, dangling sausages off a doublebass player covered with a black sheet, to dark circular rooms illuminated by candle-light, to my one, which involved windchimes, a geiger counter and a sulfur bomb.
Man, that class was fun.

Post-mid sem break
Now that the mid-sem break is over, lets see how much I actually did?
. catch up on reading for music history NO
. do my harmony homework YES
. do my aural homework YES
. organise an eminence flyer run YES
. go to the dentist YES
. study japanese NO
. do some more driving YES (2 bloody hours, like that's alot)
. work on comp major NO
. start researching my comp tech essay NO
So it looks like I did the small things, but not the big ones. AIIIII
Well, organising 3 flyer runs doesn't really count as small. Shmeh.
We also went down to the Floriade, but it was pretty boring this year.
And I did some tutoring and had an Eminence meeting, so yeah, not extremely productive.
